Procedure for Visa application

The National Federations that need a visa to come to Switzerland for the Lausanne ITU Triathlon World Championships have to send an e-mail or fax to the Secretariat General (chantal.boehi@lausanne.ch - fax +4121 315 49 38) mentioning following information : address and fax number of the Federation and then for each person : first and last name, passport number, function (president, coach, athletes, etc.) and their arrival and departure date. As soon as the Secretariat General receives this request, it will issue a letter of invitation and will fax it to the Federation. If a similar invitation has to be sent to the Swiss Embassy or Consulate of their country, the Federation will inform the Secretariat General and will pass on the fax number where it has to be sent.

Transports

By plane

Closest international airport is Geneva www.gva.ch(60km). Zurich international airport www.zurich-airport.com is at 230km from Lausanne.

By train

Geneva and Zurich airports are directly connected to national railway network. Lausanne is situated at 45 minutes from Geneva airport (4 trains per hour) and at 2h40 from Zurich airport (2 trains per hour).

  Prices : Geneva > Lausanne CHF 24.- one way ticket – second class
Zurich > Lausanne CHF 69.- one way ticket – second class

It is easy to get train tickets at the airport. From Geneva ticket reduction for groups from 10 people are : CHF 172.80 one way or CHF 345.60 round trip, both second class. The round trip ticket is available one month. The packed bikes can be taken in the train and laid down at the entrance of each coach on the luggage rack.

Airport transfers from Geneva

Bus transfers between Geneva airport and the hotels of Lausanne can be booked on request, as follows :

20 seats/coach : CHF 530.-/one way - round trip = CHF 1060.-
30 seats/coach : CHF 615.-/one way - round trip = CHF 1230.-
40 seats/coach : CHF 695.-/one way - round trip = CHF 1390.-
50 seats/coach : CHF 800.-/one way - round trip = CHF 1600.-

By road

Europe's highway network has north-south and east-west intersections in the immediate area of Lausanne : Geneva (60km), Paris (450km), Lyon (215km), Grand Saint-Bernard tunnel (110km), Milan (320km), Bern (100km), Zurich (230km), Munich (530km).

Official hotel

Beau-Rivage PalaceThe Beau-Rivage Palace (www.brp.ch) is the official hotel of the 2006 Lausanne ITU Triathlon World Championships. This hotel has some superiors rooms at following special rates, including breakfast and VTA :
- Single occupancy :   CHF 400.-
- Double occupancy : CHF 450.-

Accommodation

For any other hotels accommodation the Organizing Committee has appointed the Tourism office of Lausanne to organize hotel reservations for all concerned.

There is the possibility of renting a site or a tent at the Camp-site of Vidy. Unfortunately, all the bungalows are already reserved for the duration of the competitions.

Parking

An access plan will be available shortly.

Public transports of Lausanne

The Metro line connecting the centre of Lausanne and Ouchy is close is closed. Buses have been setup. A bus plan of Lausanne will be available shortly.
