History Fifteen years have already gone by
since three friends, who were keen to present to the Lausanne and Vaud
public an open, sport-loving police force, with a mind for organisation,
launched the very first Lausanne Triathlon. That’s how the Lausanne Police
Sports Club organised the first popular triathlon in September 1994.
In 1995 and 1996 the Organising Committee changed the different courses
in order to host in 1997 the Swiss Championship with more than 1'100 participants.
Lausanne organised its first ITU Triathlon World Championships in 1998
thus more than 3000 athletes swam in the Lake Leman, climbed up to the
cathedral by bike and ran in the gardens of the IOC.
In 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2002, Lausanne remained international since it
organised 4 World cup rounds.
2003 has been a transition year with an International run. This same year,
Lausanne has been nominated for the organization of the ITU Triathlon
World Championships 2006.
2005 has been therefore a tricky year since, in anticipation of the 2006
World Championships, the venue moved from Vidy to Ouchy for the organization
of the European Championships.
2006, an amazing year for the Lausanne Triathlon!!! We organized this
great event that are the Triathlon World Championships 2006 in Lausanne.
An unforgettable moment...
2007, a year the seak motivation again after those amazing World Championships
of the year before, but also a transition year in order to prepre the
futur and more important to give one full edition to our faithful citizen
racers!
2008, Lausanne demontrstae again its welcome capacity by organizing the
Swiss Championships with a race only for the national elite.
And this year?!? The usual citizen race organized with the same envy to
make it right, but also the Swiss Championships for a return to the elite
level... So come to see us!
