Moreover, the Olympic Capital is proud to welcome and indeed organize the first ITU Sprint World Championship and the second edition of the ITU Team World Championship wherein the Swiss Team will defend the title it won last year in Des Moines (USA).

2'000 coureurs populaires ont participé au 17ème triathlon de Lausanne. Dernière épreuve de la journée, le championnat du monde ITU par équipe a offert un magnifique spectacle au public. Cette épreuve a été remportée pour la seconde fois par les triathlètes suisses.
Cette superbe journée de triathlon a débuté à 7h30, avec le premier départ de la catégorie « relais ». A leur suite, près de 2’000 amateurs se sont élancés sur les différents parcours du triathlon de Lausanne. Ces athlètes ont une nouvelle fois bénéficié des excellentes infrastructures lausannoises et de l’important travail de préparation réalisé par les bénévoles. Les organisateurs sont particulièrement fiers d’avoir accueilli de si nombreux populaires, qui resteront toujours au centre du Triathlon de Lausanne.
Switzerland World Champion in the team race
Switzerland keeps it's ITU Team Triathlon World Champion title.
The team composed of Daniela Ryf, Ruedi Wild, Nicola Spirig and Sven Riederer kept its title today in Lausanne. The home team wins before France and New Zealand.

The first World Champions are known
The first World Champions, sprint cathegory, are known!
On the men's side, Jonathan Brownlee from Great Britain wins the title with an impressive time of 52.58,9 before his country mate Tim Don (53.11,0) and the Frenchman David Hauss. The first Swiss athlete, Sven Riederer, takes the 9th spot 43 seconds behind today's winner. [pictures]
On the women's side, the swedish Lisa Norden wins the World Champion title in 58.02,3 before the australian Emma Moffatt (58.17,0). Daniela Ryf, from Switzerland, gets the third place with a good time of 58.51,1! [pictures]
